Abstract

The correspondence between laboratory experiments and real fields in the wind velocity on the wave-overtopping was investigated experimentally. Experiments with an 1/45 scale model were conducted by using a two-dimensional wave tank with a wind tunnel. Generating the wave and the wind at the same time, the horizontal distributions of the wave-overtopping rate in the direction perpendicular to a seawall were measured and were compared with the ones obtained in the fleld observation by Fukuda et al. (1974). These experiments lead to the conclusion that the wind velocity in the experiment should be set about 1/3 of that in the real coast.
