Abstract

The chemical composition of the essential oil from the leaves of Acacia tortilis, collected from Ogbomoso, Nigeria, was analyzed by means of GC-FID and GC/MS. Seventy-five compounds were identified. The oil was dominated by a large amount of sesquiterpenoid compounds (52.2%). The major components of the oil were α-humulene (12.0%), α-cadinol (10.6%), nerolidol (9.9%), γ-cadinene (7.4%) and 2-(E)-octenal (6.0%).
