Abstract

The energy loss of beam ions in non-Maxwellian plasmas is investigated. After description of a generic formalism to calculate the time rate of energy loss, a simple expression is given for a plasma whose electron distribution is drifted from Maxwellian. The derived formula is used to evaluate the fusion multiplication factor and the fraction of fusion-produced charged-particles energy deposited to ions in two-energy component tokamaks.
