Clinical statistics at the Urological Department of Kyushu University Hospital from 1999 to 2001

Abstract

A study of the clinical statistics at our department from 1999 to 2001 revealed the following results: 1) The number of outpatients was 7,854, including 3,807 new patients (2,448 males and 1,359 females). The most common diseases among the new patients were hematuria (13.4%), inflammatory diseases (13.1%), benign prostatic hyperplasia (12.2%), urogenital malignant tumor (11.0%) and neurogenic bladder (9.9%). 2) The total number of inpatients was 1,257 (989 males and 268 females), and the majority of them comprised males aged 60∼79 years. The main disease among the inpatients was urogenital malignant tumor (47.5%). 3) A total of 753 cases underwent surgery, with 296 cases of open surgery, 339 cases of endourology and 118 cases of ESWL.
