Abstract

Chiral molecules having a chiral silicon center (termed "chiral silicon molecules" in this chapter) are nonexistent in nature and have quite a different chiral functionality from chiral carbon molecules owing to their different structural and electronic properties. Therefore, special approaches are required for the preparation of enantioenriched chiral silicon molecules, and new silicon-based chiral technology is expected. In this chapter, the preparation, transformation, and application of enantioenriched chiral silicon molecules are reviewed with a focus on recent advances.
