Abstract

Debris flow is a gravity flow of solid-liquid mixtures with a wide size range of sediments at high concentration. Intergranular stresses arise from grain-grain interactions in such a flow. We found experimentally that a plug forms in the debris flow at very high concentration. This means that debris also behaves like a plastic fluid.
