Abstract

Dilute solutions of poly(methyl methacrylate) in some polar solvents show very slow phase separation and remain transparent for long time periods below the cloud point. Because of this slow phase separation, both chain collapse (coil-globule transition) and aggregation were studied systematically with light scattering. In this review, recent findings on chain collapse and aggregation in dilute solutions below the h-temperature are summarized.
