Abstract

In this paper, the tip-vortex cavitation of NACA0009 hydrofoil is simulated at three tip clearances and one foil incidence angle. Two RANS turbulence models and LES sub-grid model are used in simulations. The key characteristics, including cavity trajectory, cavity shape, velocity and pressure fields in different downstream positions, are in good agreement with experimental results. It is found that the RANS simulations have a good prediction of the averaged cavity trajectory and the LES simulation can capture the rotation motion of tip-vortex cavity very well.
