N2 - A spatially coherent and temporally incoherent light source has been developed by stimulated Raman scattering in a singlemode optical fiber pumped by a conventional nano second solid-state laser. A broadband light with a bandwidth of roughly 400 nm was obtained using a 500-m-long single-mode SiO 2 optical fiber at a pump energy of 0.6 mJ. When a white-light Michelson interferometer was constructed using the fiber Raman light source, the longitudinal spatial resolution of 1.8μm was achieved.
