A 25-year-old woman visited our hospital complaining of lower abdominal pain and bladder symptoms. She had a hen-egg-sized mass with severe pain in the lower abdomen. Cystoscopy demonstrated an edematous lesion at the right side of the bladder dome. Findings of computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging suggested a urachal abscess. At surgery, the lesion was found to be a bladder abscess caused by appendicitis and so partial cystectomy with appendectomy was performed. Our case suggests that it is difficult to diagnose such bladder abscesses caused by appendicitis preoperatively.
