Abstract

Asymmetric reduction of a-methyl β-keto esters using microbial cells immobilized by the prepolymer method was examined. It was found that by a proper selection of the prepolymer in the stage of immobilization, the chemical and optical yields were both improved appreciably in some cases compared to those obtained by reduction with the native microorganisms.
