Abstract

In this paper, distributed-feedback (DFB) plastic dye lasers with arrayed waveguide configuration pumped by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser was developed. A dye-doped PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) film was spin-coated on a PMMA substrate. The holographic grating structure for DFB was fabricated by the exposure of a UV laser and wet etching technique. In the case of rhodamine dyes, the life of the chip was extended more than 5/spl times/10/sup 6/ shots at an input energy of 3 μJ (100Hz) so that this chip can be used for many practical applications as the spectroscopic sensors.
