Abstract

Anionic polymerization of 1-adamantyl 4-vinylbenzoate (2) was carried out with diphenylmethylpotassium in THF at -95°C. The polymerization of 2 proceeded quantitatively to afford the polymers having the predicted molecular weights and the narrow molecular weight distributions. The resulting poly(2) showed a glass transition at 227°C and 10 % weight loss temperature at 408°C, indicating the high thermal properties.
