An Empirical Analysis of Information-related Investment and Its Impact on Japanese Economy

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to calculate the fundamental data which will provide the basis for discussions by researchers and analysts on information-related investment in Japan. Also, by allowing open access to the data calculation processes, the replication of work can be avoided, and further additions to the data can also be easily made. Further, through allowing active debate of problematic areas, the data can be made more precise, hence improving the analysis of information-related investment in Japan, and making research more developed. Based on a number of presuppositions, this paper finally attempts to measure the amount of information-related capital stock, make a comparative analysis between the U.S. and Japan with regard to the measurement of IT capital productivity.
