Abstract

The molecular aggregation states of the alkyltrichlorosilane, fluoroalkylsilane and their mixed monolayers prepared by Langmuir method at an air-water interface are investigated on the basis of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy(AFM). The surface properties of monolayers are characterized by contact angle measurements and lateral force microscopy(LFM). Finally the preparation of novel phase-separated structure with hydrophilic-domain and hydrophobic-matrix is presented.
