    Abstract

An adsorption cooling system using granular activated carbon (GAC)/R134a pair has been designed and built based on the adsorption characteristics of the pair. The system was experimentally driven by heat source temperatures below 100°C. The coefficient of performance (COP) and the specific cooling effect (SCE) of the system could be reached up to 0.18 and 70 kJ/kg of adsorbent, respectively at driving source temperature 90°C.
