Achieving superplasticity in a Cu-40%Zn alloy through severe plastic deformation

    The phase transformation leading to grain refinement in the alloy and the development of a superplastic ductility by the application of a severe plastic deformation was described. The phases in the equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) were separated by boundaries having high angle of misorientation, after the single pass in ECAP. After ECAP an optimum superplastic elongation of 640% was achieved at 673 K.
