Abstract

By a new modification of a parallel plate analyzer, second-order focusing is obtained for arbitrary injection angles. This kind of an analyzer with a small injection angle has the advantage of low operating voltages, compared to the Proca and Green analyzers where the injection angle is 30 deg. The newly proposed analyzer will be very useful for precise energy measurements in the MeV range.
