N2 - We report on a 64 year-old man who had developed a gradually enlarging skin ulcer on his left cervix 12 years prior to his first visit to the dermatology clinic. A skin biopsy revealed the skin ulcer to be basal cell carcinoma ; radical local radiotherapy was applied because contrast-enhanced MRI scanning visualized a highly suspect tumor invasion into the left parotid gland and the sternocleidomastoid muscle, but the patient refused surgical treatment. The cervical skin ulcer soon regressed with a total of 70 Gy local X-irradiation, and a follow-up MRI confirmed no apparent residual tumors. The patient has been disease free for more than 3 years after the radiotherapy, so we think that this is a successfully treated case of deep tissue-invading basal cell carcinoma with radical local radiotherapy.
