Abstract
Ruthenium(IV)-allyl complexes (C5Me5)-RuCl2(η3-allyl) are easily prepared from a Ru(III) complex, [(C5Me5)RuCl2]n, by treatment with allylic halides, alcohol, ethers, acetate, or sulfides. Treatment of the resulting dichlororuthenium(IV) complex with aqueous HBr or HI solution resulted in smooth halogen-exchange reactions.
