    Abstract

We reported a case of gastric cancer arising from the hyperplastic polyp. The polyp was 2cm in maximum diameter and pedunculated in shape on the Barium study. Endoscopically, the color of the polyp was reddish except the discolored area at the top of the polyp. On the resected specimen, carcinoma with surrounding dysplasia was detected at the top of the polyp and it is considered that the discolored area on endoscopy is closely related to the area of cancer and dysplasia. Our case indicates that the discoloration may suggest the malignant transformation of gastric hyperplastic polyp.
