    Abstract

In Department of Acoustic Design, School of Design, Kyushu University, we carried out a program called "Thinking about 'a sound' scientifically: Let's experience speech analysis and synthesis," which is a program of "Science learning by camp (Science Camp)" for high school students sponsored by Japan Science and Technology Agency. Our aims are to increase the high school students who are interested in acoustics and to improve their motivation and knowledge. By this program, we tried that we let high school students understand an outline of the speech communication through introduction lectures and experiments about physics of acoustics, auditory psychology and speech science. There was always all the students and the lecturers in the classroom and we tried to do conversation about acoustics thickly and to do experiments together in this program period. All the participants seemed to have wrestled in this program positively.
