Abstract

Blue phases (BP) are liquid crystal phases which appear at a narrow temperature range about 1 ℃. The temperature range is extended more than 60 ℃ by photo-polymerization. The polymer in polymer-stabilized blue phase (PSBP) is considered to be aggregated along line defects of the liquid crystal director. In this study, we prepared thin PSBP films on grids of transmission electron microscope (TEM) by spin-coating method, and attempted to observe the polymer structure.
