Abstract

The Airin district of Nishinari Ward, Osaka City, which is well-known as a town for day laborers,has been transformed into an attractive area for foreign tourists by converting flophouses into guest houses. Although tourism is regarded as important measure to revitalize the community, it might also causes a decrease in living space and an unplanned inflow of external capital, which poses a problem from the perspective of regional sustainability. The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual situation of regional transformation due to tourism, by analyzing from the space aspect including and type shops local stakeholders on tourism and the relationships between each entity.
